I’m currently at Newark airport, waiting to get on my delayed flight home. As I had such a long wait,a nd there is absolutely no decent shopping at Newark, I popped into Chillis for a bite to eat. I got sat at a table with another guy and we got chatting as you do. David (I think his name was) was an American, now living in Bangkok, working as an IT consultant, and finishing a 3 week assignment in the USA.
We covered many topics in our hour or so chat, ranging from the reason for the Iraqi invasion (oil) to the new Thai ownership of Manchester United football club. One of the things we did discuss was the influx of moneyed Russians into both England and Thailand. It was just after that, that a very attractive young woman came over to us and asked to borrow a mobile phone because all the payphones were broken. Her name was Svetlana – a student trying to call her Russian taxi company to find out where her lift was. Coincidence? Life’s just like that sometimes.
David did tip me off about what he thought was a great website that details all the airlines and the seat configurations on all their models of planes. It gives feedback as well. It’s called seatguru.com. It reminds me a bit of the website that has details of all the London theatres, seating plans and which are the best (and worst) seats – theatremonkey.com.
